We created a brand of super premium tea houses inspired by a moment in time when the Chinese Empress first opened up the Forbidden City to the wider world. New cultures came together, traditions were reinvented, and the finest quality tea was shared. The brand is conceived as a café experience with the ability of purchasing products online. Guests can enjoy the highest quality tea paired with Western-style pastries and cakes. Our brand identity, inspired by Empress Dowager Cixi, symbolizes a commitment to quality. The Empress was known for her exquisite taste in tea and recognized the importance of connecting China with the West. Such ambition resonates through our packaging and design choices, presenting a harmonious blend of cultures.
The project features ultra-premium tea packaging—an innovative, refillable glass container that keeps tea sealed for optimal freshness. The reusable glass is not only environmentally friendly but also aesthetically pleasing, featuring patterns reminiscent of Chinese glass designs from the Qing Dynasty. Each tea blend is uniquely numbered and named after stories from the Forbidden City, encapsulating a rich narrative with every product.
Within the design framework, we have created luxurious tea boxes that embody both elegance and functionality. The luxurious feel of the boxes is intended to captivate tea enthusiasts, enhancing the overall experience of gifting tea. The core color is derived from precious Chinese jade, with a vibrant palette inspired by the Forbidden City’s rich architecture.
